New Site Feature: Newest Comments Page
I’ve just added a new feature to the site that I think will be handy for regular readers: the Newest Comments page. This is something I look for myself on blogs I read regularly, so I figured I’d better implement it here.
That page automatically displays excerpts of the 15 newest comments on Gnome Stew, including a link to individual comments and to the articles they’re attached to.
There are already two others way to keep up with discussions on the Stew: our comments feed and the links at the bottom of every comment thread that allow you to subscribe to email updates for specific articles.
I hope this new feature is useful to you. I formatted the list in what I thought would be the simplest, most browsing-friendly way, but there are tons of options for how everything can be displayed — if you think of a better one, let me know.

Also new as of this evening: the “Reply” link at the bottom of every comment.
Assuming you’re logged in, hitting this link will automatically start your comment with @commenter (the most common notation for replying in non-threaded blog comment systems, like ours) — and link that @commenter to the specific comment you’re replying to.

@Swordgleam – Neat! I figured you could reply to multiple people manually, extrapolating from the code, but it’s cool that there’s an automated way to do it. I like this feature!

@Martin Ralya – @Martin Ralya – @Martin Ralya – It seems to just fill in the reply code any time you click the reply link. Though it does it at the beginning of the comment, or after the last reply link, not wherever the cursor is at the time you click Reply.
