For those long-time readers of the Stew, this is a tradition that I have had a lot of fun doing the past two Gen Con’s. It is the 3rd annual You Pick It, I Review It event. This is where you get to put the last item on my Gen Con shopping list before I pack up and head to Indy for the best 4 days in gaming. In years past you have picked out some great games to review: Hackmaster Basic [here and here],…

As the week of distilled geekery known as Gen Con comes to an end, I am sleep-deprived, mentally exhausted, and exhilarated. Much was achieved, much was learned, and much fun was had. The Good As probably know by now, Gnome Stew won a silver ENnie (and I jumped off the stage wearing a kilt – not one of my brighter moments). Put that all together and you get our 2010 GenCon Seminar: Eureka! Cooking Up Adventure Plots with Gnome Stew Yes once again we Gnomes will be…

This Sunday, April 11th, will be a day that for many gamers will be punctuated with outbursts of both anger and joy. For those of you attending GenCon this year, April 11th is Event Registration. GenCon registration is always frustrating, but with our tips, hopefully you will navigate through RUBI with ease, and possibly wind up with a few events that you were hoping for. The most important thing you need to know about event registration are the times. Rather than telling you, I will…

This year at Gen Con Vicki Potter from Tabletop Adventures joined fellow gnomes Kurt “Telas” Schneider, Phil “DNAphil” Vecchione, and myself to give the seminar “All Grown Up, and Still Gaming". We discussed gaming with a career, gaming after marriage, and gaming as a parent. And since it was at Gen Con we got lots of great feedback and tips from the plethora of gamers in attendance. But the best part of all? We recorded it! You can listen to it right here. Now for…
