@Scott Martin -

For "just play" this book offers a lot. First, there is a sample mission right in the book, that a GM could take and run. There is another mission, called the Odessa Cache on RPGNow.com, that is easy to run.

After that, there are some great tools in the book to quickly whip up an adventure. There is the 100 Mission ideas, there are tables for making up random installations that will remind you of the OD&D dungeon generators, and there is a section of Antagonists, that have playable stats for a number of NPC's.

All in all, you could put together and run a number of sessions, with minimal prep.
Reply

That's interesting. While I'm pretty good about resisting new games these days [the unplayed games on my shelves frequently glare at me], your article yesterday and interview today have me curious.

For a GM who wants to "just play"-- what's available to cut prep, particularly the first session. Are there pregenerated characters, a sample mission, or rules quick references to speed us on our way?
Reply
