Our GM’s Day contest (the prize: a set of solid metal dice) has drawn over 300 entries, roughly double the number for our previous contest.
Many entries have been from longtime readers commenting for the first time, and many readers thanked us for writing Gnome Stew. We love writing about GMing, and hearing from gamers who find our advice, ideas, and rambling useful in their games is the main reason that we keep doing it.
To everyone who reads the Stew: Thank you! It’s clichéd, but we’re here doing this because you’re here reading our work — and using it in your games. You rock.
You are very welcome, thanks for the awesome contest. You guys are the best gamemastering blog out there, and I’ll fight anyone who says different… or at least I’ll write “you’re lame” after any comment they write, which is the lazy internet approach to fighting.
Thanks for providing the best blog on GM’ing!
I played D&D once in 5th grade (about 30 years ago) and it lasted maybe a half hour. None of us had ever played, let alone GM’ed, and so much of that thirty minutes was spent trying to figure out how to do math. Then I left. I never went near a pen & paper rpg for at least 15 years.
It’s a shame because D&D (and p&p gaming in general) had such a strong conceptual appeal to me. I got my fix somewhat from computer-based rpg’s that came around many years later, but I’ve yet to return to the table.
How different my experience might have been had the Stew been around three decades ago!
Posting a reply to try and win some awesome dice is the least we could do.
Seriously.
Keep up the good work! (and have more contests! ^-^)
You are most welcome (here you are, thanking us when we should be thanking you!). Your contest finally gave me the motivation to register and start commenting…
After seven years of running games, I was feeling burned out and passed the GM hat off to another player about a month ago. Since then I rediscovered this site amidst a dusty pile of bookmarks, and it has already gotten my wheels turning again… as much as I am enjoying playing, I almost can’t wait to take the reigns again.
Thanks for doing this. I found out about this site through the contest and I will definitely be checking back.
No, thank you! I have picked up many good ideas from your articles and other folks comments.
So many entries in the metal dice contest!
You will just have to award more prizes next time. 😀
One word: gnomecast.
Step away from the dice, folks; they are mine.
