We’ve been quiet about our upcoming second book, Masks, for too long — it’s time to share another preview!

This is actually a two-parter. First, the sexiest part: the cover. It really needs no further introduction — we think it’s gorgeous, and we hope you do, too!

This cover was illustrated by Christopher Reach, who also did some amazing interior art for the book, and designed by Darren Hardy, whose stellar graphic design and layout skills are on display throughout Masks. Darren also did the graphic design and layout for our first book, Eureka, including the cover design. Both of these gents knocked this cover out of the park.

New Tagline

You’ll also notice that our original title has been changed — not “Masks,” but the tagline. The full title of the book is now Masks: 1,000 Memorable NPCs for Any Roleplaying Game.

We think that packs a lot more useful info into the same space: “Memorable” because Masks features so much more than just a brief description of each NPC — these characters will really stand out for your players — and “Any Roleplaying Game” because this is a truly universal supplement. I can’t think of an RPG that couldn’t make use of Masks.

Progress Report

On the progress front, the book is written, all of the artwork is done, the layout template is done, and editing and proofreading should be wrapping up in June. We’re shooting to open preorders in July, and have the book available at GenCon.

June will also bring samples of the text, including NPCs from all three broad genres: fantasy, sci-fi, and modern. Stay tuned!
