Happy GM’s Day! As part of Gnome Stew’s March 4th blitz, we’re holding our third contest.
We thought, “What does every GM need?” And the answer was “A set of badass metal dice.”
The Prize
Specifically, a set of 16mm solid metal polyhedral dice with a brushed steel finish from Crystal Caste.
Crystal Caste makes great dice, and these puppies are $45 — they’re not your grandpa’s worn, un-inked plastic nuggets.
Sure, they’re called “Dwarven Stones” — but it’s a little-known fact that dwarves actually can’t forge for shit. These are Gnomish Stones, my friend.
And they’re dead sexy:

How to Enter
We like to make our contests easy to enter — all you have to do is comment on this article, and you’ll be entered to win.
To comment, you’ll need to have a Gnome Stew account. If you don’t already have one, you can register here.
One entry per person, and as always Gnome Stew authors are not eligible to win. You’re welcome to comment more than once, but only the first one will count.
Winning
This contest will end at 7:15 am Mountain time on Tuesday, March 10th. The winner will be chosen at random, and we’ll announce the proud owner of these dice in a separate article.
The lucky winner will be contacted by email, so make sure your Gnome Stew account is tied to your actual email address.
That’s all there is to it. We wish everyone who enters the best of luck, and we can’t wait to give away this set of dice!

I love these dice. I actually have a black stone set made by the same company. If they weren’t so small, they’d be my main dice, fo sho.

If I comment about how I’m too cool to follow the crowd and join this lottery, am I still in? Please?

I wish I had something cool to say.

But I don’t, so I’ll just enter this here lottery.

Oh man, metal dice! Got me to register.
March 4, 2009 at 10:43 am - Link
See, the brilliant thing about these dice is that not only do they look cool, but they can be used as projectile weapons against excessive metagamers.
March 4, 2009 at 10:48 am - Link
Had to re-register with my active email. Hope it pays
March 4, 2009 at 10:54 am - Link
I love the Crystal Caste dice. They all hate me (dice are cursed as soon as I touch them) but I love ‘em nonetheless.

O metal dice,
O metal dice,
You are so shiny, and so nice!
March 4, 2009 at 10:58 am - Link
Metal dice will sound that much more menacing from behind the screen….thunk-thunk of doom!
March 4, 2009 at 11:01 am - Link
Shiny metals! Here’s to hoping I roll a 20 for this contest.

March 4, 2009 at 11:06 am - Link
I’m just starting as a DM, and haven’t even a full set of dice… this would be amazing!

I registered just so I could win these dice.

Winner chosen at random? hmmm…. I wonder if you’ll use the dice themselves to determine the winner. Now wouldn’t that be neat?
BTW, that crack about dwarves was WAAAY out of line!
Thanks!

Always worth a try.

Yes, I will even take up DMing again with some new dice! I could run Serenity, which would keep the 12-sider from getting lonely.
March 4, 2009 at 11:32 am - Link
I shall roll them upon my keyboard to see what appears upon the screen.
March 4, 2009 at 11:34 am - Link
I know someone who happens to be a big fan of Dungeons and Dragons, and I know that this person would be extremely happy and ecstatic if they won these beautiful dice.
Hopefully, I can make this person happy with these dice!
GL to everyone else as well.

As the illustrious holder the title, “Worst Guess on the Number of Dice in the Big Pile,” I feel I must enter myself into this contest in a sorry attempt to redeem myself.
Never mind this one is all luck. (Good for me, I guess.)

Great contest. Perfect way to memorialize the Great Gygax.
It’s been a year…miss you, Gary.
March 4, 2009 at 11:44 am - Link
These Dice are awesome! I would love to add them to the GM arsonel. My players are sick of dealing with “Black Death” ( an old paranoia black die that seems to roll 20s way more often then any other number! ).
March 4, 2009 at 11:50 am - Link
I’d love a free set of dice.
I’m a GM and freelancer, and I love this blog!
March 4, 2009 at 11:57 am - Link
Crystal Caste make some pretty awesome dice; for mundane sets, I tend to prefer Chessex, but for more exotic sets made of (for example) solid steel, Crystal Caste is the best.
March 4, 2009 at 12:00 pm - Link
I already have a metal dice bag (Chain mail; handmade by a friend), so I should really have a set of metal dice.
March 4, 2009 at 12:08 pm - Link
Metal dice? I’ve got quite a few, but no metal ones. On a completely unrelated note, this blog is great.
March 4, 2009 at 12:09 pm - Link
Recent lurker, first time poster. My brother keeps trying to get me back into playing after a three-year absence (and an eight-year or so break from GMing).
Hopefully I get a chance to actually contribute in the future.

I’m total down for some metal dice!
