For anyone interested in a PDF copy of the Pathfinder rules, I have updated "Turbo-PRD" (PDF edition) and made it available at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/extras/downloads/Turbo-PRD%28PDF%29.zip?attredirects=0.

Updates:

* Smaller font so you get more text per page.
* Somewhat improved layout.
* More bookmarks.
* A character sheet is now included (its the official Paizo one).
* This copy is digitally signed by me.
* The book is page numbered
* Pages have a faint watermarked d20pfsrd.com logo at the bottom of each page.

Come on by and get your copy, as always, for free!

[...] GM Spotlight: What Pathfinder Brings to the Table I ordered my copy of Pathfinder just a few days ago, so I’m still waiting for it to arrive. I can’t comment much on the system as I’ve only seen the beta, and I’m withholding all comments until I see the final product. This article goes into some decent detail about what they like and don’t like about the system. The only thing in the article that I vehemently disagree with is the size comparison of the books. They call the Pathfinder book a doorstop and want to know why they have to lug it around to game with it. They even have a photo of the D&D4e PHB on edge with the Pathfinder book to demonstrate its large size. In all fairness, they should have included the D&D4e DMG in the picture too since the Pathfinder book is for the GM and the players alike. It’s a poor comparison. Also, I just spent the entire weekend lugging my D&D 4e library around with me in order to effectively run my games. If anyone should be complaining about lugging too much paper goods, it should be me sending my chiropractor bill to WotC! [...]
Reply

Excellent review. I'm glad I picked up a copy at Gen Con. I once swore to never run a 3.5 campaign again, but I never mentioned Pathfinder... ;-)

My old 3.5 house rules were oddly similar to a few of Paizo's changes. Clerics do damage to Undead in a 30' radius instead of turning them (save for half). Tumble is against DC10 + opponent's BAB, not DC15. Certain classes (Sorcerer, etc) got more skill points.
<a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('7237','Kurt \"Telas\" Schneider'); return false;">Reply

@kythri - I should have said "the first third party supplement available." To the best of my knowledge, the Tome was the first printed and ready-to-use supplement (and the only one displayed at the Paizo booth at GenCon) when Pathfinder was released.

Technically, Vic is correct though. Expeditious Retreat Press had a license and product announcement before Adamant. As far as I can tell, their products are still in pre-order.
Reply

Actually, Tome of Secrets is NOT the first third party PFRPG product.

See Vic Wertz' comments here: http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderRPG/products/licensees/firstPathfinderLicenseePreOrderTOMEOFSECRETS
Reply

@Scott - I've seen some anecdotal evidence that people were running "Complete" classes alongside the Beta classes and they worked just fine (which was the intent, to bring the core classes up to the level of later classes).

It's an eyeballing kind of thing, although I think that the warlock would work. The warlock would get the stat bump from his race, and he'd also get the faster feat progression (I didn't mention this, but new feats are gained every odd level now). The only thing that you'd need to do is amend his skill list and possibly rebalance his Attack/Hit Die progression (I don't have my Complete Arcane in front of me at the moment).
Reply

I'm surprised that it works both ways-- that stats are bumped and skills are consolidated, but that using old material looks doable. If you really really like playing a Warlock from Complete Arcane, could you bring it over? Would it be weaker than the PF classes since it has dead levels?
Reply
