Glyph-- Relationship Map (Master)

In my continuing quest for a campaign, my group has recently picked a Savage Worlds super hero game with a home-brewed setting. As we started working on the characters, I wanted the players to not only have a background, but to have NPC’s that I could use during the sessions. Sounds plenty reasonable, and something that I have done in a number of games before. Rather than doing the normal list of NPC’s, or pulling them from their backgrounds, I wanted to do something a little different……

GMingAdvice012

I have not had a good run of games lately. Seems like just a few articles ago I was talking about my new Agents of Oblivion campaign, on the heels of a failed Corporation game. Over the past year, I have not been able to get a game to run for any length of time. So when it looked like Agents of Oblivion was not going to make it, I sat down with my players to find out what was going on, and we learned…

Shadows of Esteren Crew

As part of the You Pick It…I Review It for this year, you requested that I review Shadows of Esteren. As you commanded I have obeyed, and have been hard at work reading this tome. After reaching a certain point in the book, I decided to break this review into two parts. So today’s article is a review of the Shadows of Esteren setting: Tri-Kazel. A few weeks from now, I will return with the second part: the review of the game mechanics. Rendez-vous à la Gen…

Casting of a Personal Scene

I like to have personal plots in my campaigns; plots that focus on a single PC at a time. I like to weave the scenes for these personal plots (or stories) into the overall fabric of the game, and typically have a “round” of personal stories come up between adventures/missions. This stretches out the personal plot over a longer period of time (see The Carter Way). Sometimes coming up with a personal story for every player is easy, and sometimes a bit harder. Looking for…

AoO Cover

What do you get when you combine Spies, Supernatural Horror, Crunchy bits, a secret organization, and the Fast, Furious, and Fun rules of Savage Worlds? You get Agents of Oblivion: part setting, part toolbox, and part rulebook, in all the best ways possible. Are you ready for your briefing now, Agent? NOTE- This is the first of two reviews I will do post-Gen Con. The second, Shadows of Esteren, is still a bit off as I am reading the entire book and playing it before…

Engine on Display

Hey all. It took a few days to recover and to get back into the swing of things, but I am now ready to give my post-Gen Con report. For me, this Gen Con was one of the most fun and most relaxing trips I have had, more so than a number of recently past Gen Con’s . So let me tell you about what I did… Savage Gen Con This Gen Con was very much about Savage Worlds for me. I am just starting to…

Shadows of Esteren

Last week I kicked off the 4th annual You Pick It, I Review It Gen Con event. Votes were cast, and after doing a little research, I have picked two products for this year’s You Pick It. They are… Shadows of Esteren     This was the first request, from 9littlebees who went the extra distance and talked right to the publisher about reviewing the book. I was already intrigued by this game the second I saw the video teaser, but what clinched it were these…
